You may or may not know this, but because our kids go to Japanese school, they get to do double duty academically! We don’t want them to get behind in their English or language arts skills n particular. (What do you expect with two professional teachers for parents, really?) Between when they get home from school and when they go to bed, we have integrated a very “sneaky” (i.e. FUN!) homeschooling curriculum that has so far been very successful. Mostly comprised of playing games and reading lots of wonderful books (Sonlight is an awesome curriculum for book lovers!), but we also throw in some handwriting stuff too.
Okay, so I found a LIFESAVER this week, moms! I think this would be a great resource for any mom, but for homeschooling moms, this is a TRUE GEM!! This website is called Time 4 Learning, and it does cost $20 per month (per child!), but its quality is just unbelievable. There are endless age-appropriate and cross-curricular activities and games for your child, and you can track your child’s progress, even create progress reports for a homeschooling portfolio! As a teacher, I’m astounded at the breadth of lessons available in this site. This is something I really need because I need to have something for Claire/Adam (and soon enough Ben + future little tykes) to do while I’m working individually with the other(s), and worksheets get old really quick. We’re in the two-week free trial period, but I’m already SOLD. I’m certain that this is something we’ll be working into the budget for all our kids. You have to check it out!!! It’s fantastic!
Always read all your entries, but loved this one!! Thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out. You may want to check out http://www.spellingtime.com-its really nice too. Last year it was free, now it costs, but the kids learn and have fun at the same time.
Take care!

First of all… CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting adding to your blessed family!!!!
I have a question for you… My daughter, Skyler, will be starting Kindergarten in a couple of weeks. We don’t have much choice as far as private schools are concerned and the public schools are… well… not the best. SO… I’m doing what I NEVER thought I would be doing… considering homeschooling. I read your blog entry about “Time 4 learning” and will definitely check it out…. If you have any other thoughts on this matter or tried and tested methods… would you please send it to me. ANY HELP would be welcomed! THanks Girl…
